Claughton Manor Brickworks Ropeway

Industrial Landscape
This is the last aerial ropeway in operation in britain. It brings material down from the quarry high on Caton Moor down to Claughton Manor Brickworks at the bottom of the Lune Valley.

They'd stopped for the day when I went for a look, and the buckets were all hanging freely, some loaded, some not.

Photo comment By Rob Grundy: I once visited Claughton Manor in connection with work. The ropeway is famous as it was used to deliver wages to the quarrymen on a Thursday afternoon. Until somebody climbed a tower mid way along and stole it. (Local fable maybe?!)
Photo comment By Peter Wilberforce: Visited the area last week 24/25 June 2014 and delighted to see that the ropeway was in full operation
