Darwen

The town centre of Darwen is undergoing major regeneration. The most noticeable change is the demolition of the Belgrave Mills, former home of Crown Wallpaper. However, in the shadow of Belgrave Mills, the Sudellside area off Marsh House Lane was also being cleared. This was to allow the building of a new ‘Academy’, (or ‘school’ as they were previously known) to replace Darwens existing, poorly performing schools. This required a large number of streets to be demolished. Pictures from late 2005 / early 2006.
