NGTE Pyestock

The National Gas Turbine Establishment is near the former Royal Aircraft Establsihment at Farnborough, a post war hotbed of aviation research. Like the huge wind tunnels at Farnborough, the research at Pyestock has now virtually drawn to a close, with only a few buildings still used.

The site is on a large scale, and from evidence found on the site, was progressively shut down from the mid 90's onwards.

The site is unlikely to be there much longer as Tesco wish to build a huge distribution centre there, although this is facing considerable local opposition.

We only visited a small portion of the site, and we were there for about 5 hours. Just a shame it's getting on for 300 miles away from home!
