Under the Bough
Eighty or so years of abandonment had seen this mill slowly succumb to nature. Its millpond was little more than a sunken, walled field, and large sections were barely accessible on my first visit in summer due to the sheer density of the undergrowth. That, and what sounded like most of the bees in West Yorkshire nesting somewhere within the interior walls. I beat a hasty retreat and returned on a sub zero January day when the vegetation had thinned and the bees were gone.
