Astley Green 3

The engine - the reason the place still exists. It is a 3,300 hp twin tandem compound steam winding engine built by Yates and Thom of Blackburn. No. 1 engine was installed between 1910 and 1912 and No.2 engine while No.2 engine was delayed by the First World War and did not become operational until 1919.
