Photo comment By Liz: Great pictures - the blue tinge if probably from the dolly blue works over the river - apparently everything in the village was blue at the time the works were active - even the dogs- so some probably permiated into the iron works.
Photo comment By James Gerald Forrest: Is it possible to find a picture of workmen sitting on the wall at the "Dolly Blue"works during the late 1950s, completely covered from head to toe, in the bright blue dye which was manufactured there. (face masks had not been thought of). I was a Police motor cycle instructor from the Lancashire Constabulary Motor School, and if we were fortunate to be passing the works at break time, we would be treated to the most unusual sight of five or six bright blue workmen waving to us, whilst having a smoke. as we passed by on the A590, which was not by-passed at this time. your sincerely, J.G.Forrest
