Eckersley Mill, Wigan,

This is part of a huge mill complex that is just starting to be regenerated, with one of the mills gutted and covered in scaffolding. Of the other two, one is still partially occupied but is a bit of a ruin to be honest and will eventually be demolished, while the other is empty and will be renovated. Other bits have already been demolished due to their poor condition but others will follow suit but some buildings such as the mill offices will be preserved.
It was a grim December day when I went to photograph them, with the last remnants of the brief snow and ice we had on some of the pavements in the Wigan area. I think these photographs capture that mood.
