Prestolite 11

Prestolite 11 - Prestolite (Butec), Leyland
Loking down the side of the plant, it an be seen that this is a big place. The shape of the building is quite unusual, almost like the shape of a letter E, but with a couple more legs. It must have been built for a specific purpose or specific machinery.

Photo comment By Charlie: I worked in the R & D department at BUTEC between 1976-1981. I think you will find that its original function was a gas-mask factory during the Second World War. The building behind (just visible to the right of this picture) had concrete pillars on the roof every few yards, allegedly to prevent planes landing on it!
