Photo comment By Tudor Jones: Thanks very much for putting these photographs on the internet. All very sad. They bring back memories as I started work at this plant as an apprentice woodworker in 1962. I left in 1972. The structures are difficult to identify clearly due to their dilapidated condition. I have checked Google Earth and quite a few structures have been demolished. My recollection is that there were six main Shops numbered and 7. I cannot recall a Shop 6. The current Google images show that Shop 3 ( the sawmill where I worked ) and Shop 4 have been demolished as has the Maintenance Dept. Your comment about the Canteen puzzles me as I remember it to be quite a substantial building and I recall Workers Playtime ( starring Ivor Emmanuel ) being broadcast from it in the mid sixties. Perhaps what you photographed is of a smaller structure brought into use after my departure. Thanks again for putting these images on the website. My only regret is that I didn't take any photographs of the site and my fellow workers at the time but I was young then and nostalgia played no part in my life.
